Agile FOMO
Because we just have to be agile, don’t we?
Why do I care so much about Agile project management, and the epic fight against the Waterfall evil dragon?
Because I feel the pain of all the organizations that are caught in a deadlock:
we need to change quickly in order to become agile
we need to become agile in order to change quickly
But you are more agile than you think.
You can find agility everywhere, in the effective interactions between individuals in your organization: you just haven’t formalized it yet into a process.
Working software is delivered regularly, but the documentation is often not finished (not yet…) when the project is over.
Somebody has walked the extra mile to make life easier for colleagues or for external customers, even if it was not written in the commercial agreements.
Things changed along the way, and both sides worked hard to find an agreement to go on with a new plan.
If this happened without an agile framework or without certified Masters and Coaches, it doesn’t mean that it’s not agile. If you have doubts, take a look at the Agile Manifesto.
