Un Fiorino (One Florin)
Things you need to travel within Europe during COVID
A Google search for ”passenger locator form” and “frustration” returns 54000 results. Why?
I think I have an explanation.
We decided to visit our parents in Italy last week. We spent about one day in Italy, half of which was in our car. To achieve this, each of us had to fill two forms: one Passenger Locator Form for Italy, one for Switzerland.
Having created a user account on the EU PLF website, I expected to be able to reuse my personal information. Unfortunately, we both had to fill the 4-pages form from scratch, even though the only thing that had changed since our last trip was the date.
It felt exactly like this.

- Italy, Malta, Slovenia (other EU Countries do not require it (yet))
- Switzerland (there is also a self-check questionnaire to understand if you really need to fill it)

Note: the Florentine florin was a coin struck from 13th to 16th century. The name of the coin comes from the floral emblem of the city, a lily.
